Brief Overview


The 3rd CamTESOL conference was held at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP). The conference was all day on Saturday 24 February and the morning only of Sunday 25 February.

The conference was co-opened by the Acting Minister and Secretary of State for the Ministry of  Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) HE Mok Vann and by the US Ambassador HE Joseph Mussomeli. The Australian Ambassador HE Lisa Filipetto and the Rector of the Royal University of Phnom Penh HE Lav Chhiv Eav also officiated at the Opening Ceremony.

Registration for the conference totalled 891, of whom 853 registered for and attended on both days of the conference.  Of total registrations, 676 were Cambodians.  98 participants came from foreign countries specifically for the event.  There were 168 provincial teachers at the conference, 149 of whom were Government high school teachers sponsored by a range of donors, notably by the US State Department.

The conference had a total of 111 presentations including papers, workshops, demonstration lessons and poster sessions.  The three plenary speakers were Associate Professor Seamus Fagan, Professor JoAnn (Jodi) Crandall and Ms Mary Jane Hogan.
